1. Descripción  
 
EPS (Ampliable Poli estireno) es un Material ligero, rígido, de plástico aislamiento de espuma producida a partir de partículas sólidas de poliestireno. La Expansión se consigue en virtud de pequeñas cantidades de Gas pentano disueltos en el Material base de politireno durante la producción. El Gas se expande bajo la acción del calor, aplicado como Vapor de agua, para formar células perfectamente cerrados de EPS. Estas células ocupan aproximadamente 40 veces el volumen de la perla de poliestireno originales. Las perlas de EPS se moldean en formas apropiadas adaptadas a su aplicación. Los productos hechos de poliestyreno expandido son casi omnipresentes, por ejemplo los materiales, el aislamiento, y vasos de bebida de espuma de embalaje.
