Fans attending games at the new Wildcat Stadium at Abilene Christian University will need to obey a few new rules, in addition to some that have long been in place.
For starters, clear plastic bags, small clutch purses no larger than 6 1/2 inches in length and diaper bags accompanying a baby or child will be the only carried items allowed into the stadium. Backpacks, coolers, bags and purses, and photography bags are not permitted. Rain Wear
Outside food or drink — with the exception of one sealed or empty water bottle — are not allowed, including sunflower seeds, alcohol and tobacco. Baby strollers, which can be parked near the soccer stadium before entry, drones, weapons of any kind and poles for flags or banners aren't allowed, either.
Umbrellas are not allowed because of safety reasons and because they obstruct views. In case of rain, attendees should bring rain ponchos or jackets.
ACU asks paying guests to stay off the field. For the safety of participants and spectators, the school said, at no time before, during or after the game will spectators be permitted on the field.
Guests are also expected to maintain proper behavior in the stands, the school says. Those who appear intoxicated or otherwise impaired will be ejected, as will those who interfere with the game by running onto the field. Those who interfere with any other guest's enjoyment of the event, either through action or language, will be subjected to either relocation or ejection.
Once in the stadium, guests will be permitted to leave but must have their hand stamped and have their original ticket in order to be readmitted. Failure to provide both will require a new ticket purchase to be admitted into the stadium, though medical situations may provide for exceptions, the school said.
Soliciting or collecting contributions, vending and distribution of fliers or other promotional or advertising materials at the stadium must receive prior approval, the school said.
Flannel Shirt In the event of evacuation due to dangerous weather, guests will be advised to seek shelter. The public address system and scoreboards will be used to disseminate information, with gate personnel and ushers available to assist and direct fans to the appropriate location.
